One of my favorite combos includes mixing plaid and gingham pieces... together they can create such a show stopping look. When mixing things up, I tend to start with the pattern I want to focus on first and go from there. In todays case that would be this checkered shorts suit. Because the co-ordinating items are bold and bright on there own, I opted for additional neutral colored prints (a black gingham coat and burnt orange striped blouse) Instead of taking the mixed look over the top, they bring it back down to Earth a little.
